Safelight |
|
Eye fatigue can be avoided by installing adequate safelights and painting the darkroom white (never black). White surfaces ensure that the maximum amount of ‘safelight’ is reflected around the room. The old fashioned method of darkroom safelight illumination was to have a single central safelight in the darkroom, usually located over the wet bench area for assessing print development. In the case of a student darkroom where several diverse activities are likely to be taking place at any one time, it is safer and more practical to have a number of safelights spread over the darkroom area to eliminate dark patches and provide even illumination. | |
